TUMPEK WARIGA

Jatuh pada hari Saniscara, Kliwon, Wuku Wariga, atau 25 hari sebelum Galungan. Upacara ngerasakin dan ngatagin dilaksanakan untuk memuja Bhatara Sangkara, manifestasi Hyang Widhi, memohon kesuburan tanaman yang berguna bagi kehidupan manusia.

ANGGARA KASIH JULUNGWANGI

Hari Anggara, Kliwon, Wuku Julungwangi atau 15 hari sebelum Galungan. Upacara memberi lelabaan kepada watek Butha dengan mecaru alit di Sanggah pamerajan dan Pura, serta mengadakan pembersihan area menjelang tibanya hari Galungan.

BUDA PON SUNGSANG

Hari Buda, Pon, Wuku Sungsang atau 7 hari sebelum Galungan. Disebut pula sebagai hari Sugian Pengenten yaitu mulainya Nguncal Balung. Nguncal artinya melepas atau membuang, balung artinya tulang; secara filosofis berarti melepas atau membuang segala kekuatan yang bersifat negatif (adharma).

Oleh karena itu disebut juga sebagai Sugian Pengenten, artinya ngentenin (mengingatkan) agar manusia selalu waspada pada godaan-godaan adharma.

Pada masa nguncal balung yang berlangsung selama 42 hari (sampai Buda Kliwon Paang) adalah dewasa tidak baik untuk: membangun rumah, tempat suci, membeli ternak peliharaan, dan pawiwahan.

SUGIAN JAWA

Hari Wraspati, Wage, Wuku Sungsang, atau 6 hari sebelum Galungan. Memuja Hyang Widhi di Pura, Sanggah Pamerajan dengan Banten pereresik, punjung, canang burat wangi, canang raka, memohon kesucian dan kelestarian Bhuwana Agung (alam semesta).

SUGIAN BALI

Hari Sukra, Kliwon, Wuku Sungsang, atau 5 hari sebelum Galungan. Memuja Hyang Widhi di Pura, Sanggah Pamerajan dengan Banten pereresik, punjung, canang burat wangi, canang raka, memohon kesucian, dan keselamatan Bhuwana Alit (diri sendiri).

PENYEKEBAN

Hari Redite, Paing, Wuku Dungulan, atau 3 hari sebelum Galungan. Turunnya Sang Bhuta Galungan yang menggoda manusia untuk berbuat adharma. Galung dalam Bahasa Kawi artinya perang; Bhuta Galungan adalah sifat manusia yang ingin berperang atau berkelahi.

Manusia agar menguatkan diri dengan memuja Bhatara Siwa agar dijauhkan dari sifat yang tidak baik itu. Secara simbolis Ibu-ibu memeram buah-buahan dan membuat tape artinya nyekeb (mengungkung/ menguatkan diri).

PENYAJAAN

Hari Soma, Pon, Wuku Dungulan, atau 2 hari sebelum Galungan. Turunnya Sang Bhuta Dungulan yang menggoda manusia lebih kuat lagi untuk berbuat adharma. Dungul dalam Bahasa Kawi artinya takluk; Bhuta Dungulan adalah sifat manusia yang ingin menaklukkan sesama atau sifat ingin menang.

Manusia agar lebih menguatkan diri memuja Bhatara Siwa agar terhindar dari sifat buruk itu. Secara simbolis membuat jaja artinya nyajaang (bersungguh-sungguh membuang sifat dungul).

PENAMPAHAN

Hari Anggara, Wage, Wuku Dungulan, atau 1 hari sebelum Galungan. Turunnya Sang Bhuta Amangkurat yang menggoda manusia lebih-lebih kuat lagi untuk berbuat adharma. Amangkurat dalam Bahasa Kawi artinya berkuasa. Bhuta Amangkurat adalah sifat manusia yang ingin berkuasa.

Manusia agar menuntaskan melawan godaan ini dengan memuja Bhatara Siwa serta mengalahkan kekuatan Sang Bhuta Tiga (Bhuta Galungan, Bhuta Dungulan, dan Bhuta Amangkurat).

Secara simbolis memotong babi “nampah celeng” artinya “nampa” atau bersiap menerima kedatangan Sanghyang Dharma. Babi dikenal sebagai simbol tamas (malas) sehingga membunuh babi juga dapat diartikan sebagai menghilangkan sifat-sifat malas manusia.

Sore hari ditancapkanlah penjor lengkap dengan sarana banten pejati yang mengandung simbol “nyujatiang kayun” dan memuja Hyang Maha Meru (bentuk bambu yang melengkung) atas anugerah-Nya berupa kekuatan dharma yang dituangkan dalam Catur Weda di mana masing-masing Weda disimbolkan dalam hiasan penjor sebagai berikut:

  1. lamak simbol Reg Weda,
  2. bakang-bakang simbol Atarwa Weda,
  3. tamiang simbol Sama Weda, dan
  4. sampian simbol Yayur Weda.

Di samping itu penjor juga simbol ucapan terima kasih ke hadapan Hyang Widhi karena sudah dianugerahi kecukupan sandang pangan yang disimbolkan dengan menggantungkan beraneka buah-buahan, umbi-umbian, jajan, dan kain putih kuning.

Pada sandyakala segenap keluarga mabeakala, yaitu upacara pensucian diri untuk menyambut hari raya Galungan.

GALUNGAN

Hari Buda, Kliwon, Wuku Dungulan, merupakan perayaan kemenangan manusia melawan bentuk-bentuk adharma terutama yang ada pada dirinya sendiri. Bhatara-Bhatari turun dari Kahyangan memberkati umat manusia. Persembahyangan di Pura, Sanggah Pamerajan bertujuan mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Hyang Widhi atas anugrah-Nya itu.

MANIS GALUNGAN

Hari Wraspati, Umanis, Wuku Dungulan, 1 hari setelah Galungan, melaksanakan Dharma Santi berupa kunjungan ke keluarga dan kerabat untuk mengucapkan syukur atas kemenangan dharma dan mohon maaf atas kesalahan-kesalahan di masa lalu.

Malam harinya mulai melakukan persembahyangan memuja Dewata Nawa Sangga, mohon agar kemenangan dharma dapat dipertahankan pada diri kita seterusnya.

Pemujaan di malam hari selama sembilan malam sejak hari Manis Galungan sampai hari Penampahan Kuningan disebut sebagai persembahyangan Nawa Ratri (nawa = sembilan, ratri = malam) dimulai berturut-turut memuja Bhatara-Bhatara: Iswara, Mahesora, Brahma, Rudra, Mahadewa, Sangkara, Wisnu, Sambu, dan Tri Purusa (Siwa-Sada Siwa-Parama Siwa).

PEMARIDAN GURU

Hari Saniscara, Pon, Wuku Dungulan, 3 hari setelah Galungan merupakan hari terakhir Wuku Dungulan meneruskan persembahyangan memuja Dewata Nawa Sangga khususnya Bhatara Brahma.

ULIHAN

Hari Redite, Wage, Wuku Kuningan, 4 hari setelah Galungan, Bhatara-Bhatari kembali ke Kahyangan, persembahyangan di Pura atau Sanggah Pamerajan bertujuan mengucapkan terima kasih atas wara nugraha-Nya.

PEMACEKAN AGUNG

Hari Soma, Kliwon, Wuku Kuningan, 5 hari setelah Galungan. Melakukan persembahan sajen (caru) kepada para Bhuta agar tidak mengganggu manusia sehingga Trihitakarana dapat terwujud.

PENAMPAHAN KUNINGAN

Hari Sukra, Wage, Wuku Kuningan, 9 hari setelah Galungan. Manusia bersiap nampa (menyongsong) hari raya Kuningan. Malam harinya persembahyangan terakhir dalam urutan Dewata Nawa Sanga, yaitu pemujaan kepada Sanghyang Tri Purusha (Sisa, Sada Siwa, Parama Siwa).

KUNINGAN

Hari Saniscara, Kliwon, Wuku Kuningan, 10 hari setelah Galungan. Para Bhatara-Bhatari turun dari Kahyangan sampai tengah hari.

Manusia mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Hyang Widhi atas wara nugrahanya berupa kekuatan dharma serta mohon agar kita senantiasa dihindarkan dari perbuatan-perbuatan adharma.

Secara simbolis membuat sesajen dengan nasi kuning sebagai pemberitahuan (nguningang) kepada para preti sentana agar mereka mengikuti jejak leluhurnya merayakan rangkaian hari raya Galungan – Kuningan.

Selain itu menggantungkan “tamiang” di Palinggih-palinggih sebagai tameng atau perisai terhadap serangan kekuatan adharma.

PEGAT UWAKAN

Hari Buda, Kliwon, Wuku Paang, satu bulan atau 35 hari setelah Galungan, merupakan hari terakhir dari rangkaian Galungan. Pegat artinya berpisah, dan uwak artinya kelalaian. Jadi pegat uwakan artinya jangan lalai melaksanakan dharma dalam kehidupan seterusnya setelah Galungan. Berata-berata nguncal balung berakhir, dan selanjutnya roda kehidupan terlaksana sebagaimana biasa.
